I painted "Pretty In Pink" from a very old black and white photograph of me at five years old. I was a flower girl in my uncle's wedding, and my mother had made my dress. I never forgot the color of that dress.
The background is completely from my imagination and was quite the challenge to design. The painting was created in layers of oil paints which took a long time to complete. When the painting was done, I gave it to my mother. When she passed on, it came home with me and now hangs in my daughter's pink walled bedroom.
The painting reminds me of my daughter when she was young and also of myself long ago.
